As
a network professional, you need to get your arms around an overwhelming
amount of information about a vast and complex system. To get a full
understanding of a complicated, inter-linked system you need (1) a central
repository for all of your network data - including comprehensive information
about components' system-wide connections, and (2) an easy way to get
to and understand the data you've got. netViz gives you both.
Unlike
simple drawing software, netViz respects data and relationships as much
as the ability to draw. What we provide is an alternative way to visualize
complex data. netViz creates drawings, but only because drawings are
the best vehicle for conveying information about data and complex relationships.
Once you've created a netViz diagram of your network, you can easily
explore every vertical and horizontal relationship throughout your entire
network and examine all of the data associated with every object and
link.
Because
netViz internally stores all of the information about your network components
and their network-wide interconnections, your netViz diagrams alone
can give you easy access to whatever information you need.
netViz
doesn't just create diagrams; it reflects data. Here are a few things
netViz can do for you:
- Tech
support gets a call because a user can't log on to the network. Using
nothing but your netViz diagrams, trace every connection and component
between that user and the server. See who else is connected to the
affected segment, print out a table showing all of the workstations
on the segment, and click on a record in the netViz table on screen
to go directly to its corresponding diagram.
- Troubleshoot
problems by easily navigating vertically or horizontally throughout
a network hierarchy, and switching between physical and logical views
of the system.
- Procurement
wants to order upgrades of a software package your company uses and
needs to know how many licenses to get, or tech support needs information
about service contracts on WAN links. Just do a data search within
your netViz diagrams.
- Your
company wants to buy new software that requires 32 MB of RAM. Do a
search within netViz to find each workstation in your organization
that has insufficient memory to use the software. View the results
in whatever manner suits you, a table or a diagram. Print the search-results
table and send it to procurement. Using data-driven graphics, you
can even have netViz alter your diagrams to flash or change the color
of every workstation that will need more RAM.
