When it comes to diagramming workflows and other business processes, simple drawings only tell half the story. You need your workflow models to provide hard information - who performs the work? How long should it take? How much does a process cost? And different actors in an enterprise are looking for different information. Upper management is only interested in an overview of processes. But the mid-level managers who implement them need to study the nuts and bolts.

By creating hierarchical, interrelated, data-rich diagrams, netViz can portray workflows and other processes as they exist in the real world. And because it's so easy to display or hide data associated with diagram graphics on the fly, you can instantly "annotate" your diagrams with just the information that's important to your audience.

The point of diagramming workflows graphically is to minimize miscommunication and facilitate a meaningful exchange of ideas throughout an organization. netViz allows you to display processes as they really are - parts of a complex, multi-faceted enterprise.

netViz doesn't just draw workflow diagrams, it dynamically displays data. If you need to get a handle on existing workflows or recommend changes, here are a few things netViz can do for you:

  • You want to recommend workflow changes in a large organization. Create a netViz project and show the top level to upper management. When it's time to implement the changes, just drill down on each process object to show the details to the employees who will be implementing the changes.
  • Create a multi-level netViz project documenting internal business flows and procedures. Using our Web-server software, publish the project and its underlying data to the Web to give all employees access to the information. If the procedures change, just modify the netViz project and re-publish it.
  • Use netViz to create temporal, logical, and physical models of the same system. Modifications to an object in any one model can automatically be reflected in the others.
  • Use netViz to search your diagrams for each department that isn't meeting its performance goals. View the results in whatever manner suits you, a table or a diagram. Use data-driven graphics to flash or change the color of every object that meets your search criteria.
  • Link your process metrics to your netViz objects. When changes are made to the database records, update the diagrams with a simple netViz pull-down menu. If you prefer, make the changes on the diagram and use netViz to update your database
