netViz Corporation Begins Shipping Enhanced Web-publishing Tools New server software allows project navigation and searches from Web browsers July 1, 2000, Rockville, MD - netViz Corporation has announced the release of version 2.0 of its Web publishing server software. The new Web-server software contains major enhancements to netViz's ability to display complex data graphically over the Web, and represents the first step in the company's long-term Web strategy. A leading network-diagramming and data-visualization tool, netViz uses data-embedded graphics to make multi-level diagrams that integrate graphics, data, and object relationships throughout an information network. The desktop version of netViz's powerful information- management software includes full query capabilities and a unique drag-and-drop interface to widely-used databases. By simply linking an existing database to netViz graphical objects, users can see and manage large amounts of complex information. Unlike simple diagramming tools that can publish graphical HTML files to a Web server, netViz Web-server software publishes both graphics and a database containing object and relationship information. Anyone with a browser and a project's Web address can navigate through complex netViz hierarchies, get connectivity information, explore object data and traverse links across vast systems. According to netViz President and CEO Vo Tran, "One of our long-term goals is to make the functionality and performance of our Web product equal what we've already accomplished for the desktop. This first round of enhancements to our Web-publishing tools will allow anyone browsing the Web to have access to netViz graphics, data and hierarchical information." New enhancements to netViz Web functionality also include the ability to do data searches. For example, a browser could enter a query directly within a Web-published netViz project to find objects with certain data attributes. Users can narrow searches by limiting them to certain object types or to specified data appearing in certain fields. The search results are displayed in list form with links to the objects within the netViz project. Version 2.0 also allows browsers to drill down through hierarchies by double clicking on objects and to quickly navigate up through multiple project levels. The
software will begin shipping July 15, 2000. About
