netViz diagrams are graphical representations of underlying information. Because netViz maintains all diagram data internally, it's easy to search for objects or links with specified characteristics.

Say, for example, your company wants to buy a new desktop software package that requires 64 megabytes of RAM. You can easily do a data search within your netViz project to find each workstation in your organization that has insufficient memory to use the software. The search-result table can be printed out and sent to procurement. If you prefer to see search results graphically, rest your cursor on a record in the table and netViz will show you a thumbnail of the diagram that contains the record. The selected object is identified with a flashing red arrow. Just double click on the thumbnail to open that diagram.

Searching within netViz is a great way to locate a single component in a crowded hierarchy or to find all objects or links of a certain type. Providing search results graphically is just another way that netViz helps to visualize complex information.
